Okay, so I am NOT the type to ever take any time out of my life to write a review- however, this new rhubarb scent takes the cake.

I usually buy the lavender scent, but I walked into a little grocery store today and saw them on sale for 3.99, so I unscrewed the top, sniffed it, fell madly in love, and purchased it. I've found an excuse to wash my hands more than usual tonight, just so that I could smell this long lasting, uplifting, aromatheraputic scent...seriously! I am in such a delightful mood! As I type these words, I periodically sniff my hands like a junkie.

*PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO A FABRIC SOFTENER OR ROOM SPRAY IN RHUBARB*

Perfect balance of tart (rhubarb) with something kind of sweet, I am dying to know what else it is blended with, driving me crazy...

Like a bee in heat.

Buzzzzz!

CUSTOMER REVIEW

review

I was amazed at how well it worked. After reading some of the bad reviews on Amazon I lowered my expectation from when I first saw it on QVC. But it worked crazy good, tons of gunk came off the blade and left my skin incredibly soft. Even the areas where I couldn't see anything come off on the blade and thought it wasn't working was very soft after I dried off.

I had initially thought that I would have to soak it a tub or something for it to work well. But all I did was take my normal 5 minute shower and it worked great.

Would recommend to anyone.

review

This thing is amazing! I can't believe how much gunk it gets off my skin! I can get a couple of pea-sized balls of dirt and skin off my face and neck by using it every other day. Definitely only use it in the shower, it doesn't work otherwise. It doesn't really do much for my arms, legs, feet, or torso, but it's great for my face, neck, and chest.

It doesn't hurt when you use it, I would describe it as a cross between an ice scraper, a razor, and a back scratcher. The blade is thick, but dull enough so that it won't cut skin or hair if you get over-zealous. It really just feels like a gigantic fingernail scratching you.

This is my second review of this product. When I first got the brushes I noted in my previous review that the bristles started falling out with the first use. The company contacted me the next day and offered me a refund or a new set of brushes. I found this very refreshing as most companies don't go out of their way to contact someone who writes a mediocre review. Will buy from them again!

FAQs

Q: Toilets have feelings too, you know. Before I go carelessly spritzing, I want to make sure Poo-Pourri is okay for my treasured toilet and precious plumbing system. Is it safe?

A: Don't you worry, sweetie poo—your beloved loo is safe with us. Poo-Pourri is made of essential oils and other natural compounds and is no worse for your waste water system than natural shampoos and conditioners. Think of all the awful bleach and harsh chemicals other folks flush down their precious potties, yuck! And Poo-Pourri will not leave a residue in the bowl. In fact, Poo-Pourri contains many of the same elements found in natural household cleaners. Your toilet may even thank you with a “flush yeah!”

Q: A trustworthy friend swore to me that Poo-Pourri is made of 4 parts Atlantis salt water, 2 parts Bermuda Triangle air, and 1 part unicorn pee. Is that true, or do I need a new friend?

A: Do you smell that? It's your friend's pants on fire. Though its powers may seem magical, Poo-Pourri is the real, stink-fightin' deal. It's made of essential oils and other natural compounds.

NO Harsh Chemicals

NO Parabens

NO Phthalates

NO Aerosol

ALL Stink-Fightin' Good Stuff

Q: I'm a feast-eatin' fella and I actually enjoy my own scent. So get up off me, Poo-Pourri!

A: Well, maybe your significant other or coworkers don't. Don't be selfish, mister. Think, before you stink. I will leave you with this quote from an ancient philosopher whose name we cannot spell nor pronounce: “You shouldn't punish others for your own choices.”

I purchased this as a "gag gift" for my husband a few years ago at Christmas and it turned out to be one of those gifts you actually want to give to all of your friends and neighbors with significant others and/or kids! It really does a great job at covering any smell, and all you really need is one spray (two maximum, IMO). Definitely worth the price considering you get two bottles.

As a side note I did purchase the original scent as I am VERY sensitive to smell and am prone to migraine. The spray is not perfumey, but is made of citrus essential oils so keep that in mind if that's an issue for you.

CUSTOMER REVIEW

review

Our baby daughter started suffering from either dermatitis or eczema a year ago - just a red bumpy rash - and unscented Dove was recommended by the pediatrician, pediatric dermatologist, and allergist. Unfortunately, they didn't know the manufacturer had changed the product formula. We really wish they had - it would have saved her a year of terrible itching its new formula caused.

A change in formula to Alimentum resulted in dramatic improvement after a milk allergy was diagnosed. However, small raised red patches and intense itching that caused frantic scratching to the point of bleeding soon became major issues; we visited a second dermatologist - atypical eczema was diagnosed.

Treatment until just a few days ago had been warm daily baths and unscented Dove, along with hydrocortisone 1% on spots and Cetaphil cream all over. Children's Zyrtec did not seem to alleviate the itching, although it did help her sleep. A prescription for Calcitrene did not help either. Only a physical barrier - footed PJs with both zippers and snaps, kept her from picking at her skin constantly.

Quite by accident I used unscented Dove two weeks ago. I suddenly found myself having intense itching as well. Could it be that my daughter was allergic to Dove? It did make sense as Dove was used directly on her exposed areas, arms and torso, and she had her most intense and frantic itching episodes after her bath. We discontinued Dove immediately and her intense itching subsided overnight.

What I didn't understand was why I was suddenly was allergic to the new bars. After doing some research it turns out that Dove has discontinued the old Dove unscented bar along with the Dove for sensitive skin (the one with sweet almond oil - itself an allergen) and combined them into one bar, Dove Unscented for Sensitive Skin. In so doing, it's changed its main surfuctant and other ingredients - in other words, the Dove doctors have been recommending for years is no longer the same product.

An online search revealed complaints about itchiness and the new Dove. One website site in particular on the treatment of eczema has an enormous amount of information on detergents, soap and their effects on eczema - especially the change in Dove soap. It no longer recommends it for eczema. Please see the comments section for more information.

Interestingly, itchiness and redness with the new formulation was brought up by a customer in Dove's own website and no solution is given other than Customer Service's phone number.

I've also found some mentions of another Dove ingredient, "Sodium tallowate" - tallow, sometimes derived from cattle - as sometimes causing a reaction in people with milk allergies, causing flare ups in acne and eczema. Whether this too caused an allergic reaction in our daughter, I don't know.

We thought our case was isolated. However, it's possible that the skin problems related to the new Dove may be more widespread. I hope this information helps as this change was done quietly by the manufacturer.

We also found sweet almond oil in the Cetaphil cream she was prescribed - an allergen for anyone with a tree nut allergy. We stopped using it later and the remaining red raised patches she had also diappeared. Other changes that were recommended including a change to Tide Free - it didn't help my daughter but it healed my red, cracked hands, the result of doing laundry 2-3x a day with All Free.

Granted, individual reactions to products vary but the new ingredients in Dove may be causing allergies rather than helping them. None of the three doctors consulted knew of the formula change in Dove nor realized that the "Dove + cetaphil" combo they were recommending were causing the very symptoms (itching and rash) they were trying to treat. It's possible parents may just assume it's ongoing eczema, just like they did. It may not be.

** Update 4/13 **

As noted in my review above the allergen that caused my daughter's eczema was detergent - in this case, the surfuctants in Dove. We then found out that exposure to other sulfates, such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (the main ingredient in Johnson's Baby Bath Head to Toe Baby Wash) are huge triggers for eczema in general - not just my child (why don't doctors know this?!). They may also contribute to scalp eczema - important to know as most shampoos contain SLS.

The solution is simple - avoid anything with detergents and/ or sulfates and switch mostly to soap-based products. These are way milder than what we've been led to believe by advertising. Please see comments section for alternatives to Dove and baby washes with SLS.

Olay Age Defying Moisturizing Body Wash With Vitamin E 13.5 Oz

CUSTOMER REVIEW

review

My 30-something year old skin has developed serious dryness issues, especially during the winter months. The low price of this wash was a great incentive, but ultimately the mid-range rating on Good Guide (dot com) of 5.8 made me want to try this product. These days I'm big on what goes in and ON my body, so the fact that the ingredients in this creamy soap are for the most part safe is extremely important. Also important is the fact that it delivers on its moisturizing promises!

My skin is now more supple and needs much less lotion during the course of the day, and my back (you know the spot I'm talking about) is much less dry and itchy. This also works great as a shaving cream. Yes, as the body wash formula includes Olay facial moisturizer, this smells like goopy "old lady soap." Meaning it smells formulaic, but not necessarily perfume-y like most heavily scented body washes on the market. The lather is so-so: use a few drops on a loofa, then repeat if necessary for more bubbles.

With stacking a coupon + subscribe and save, I was able to try Olay Age Defying body wash for just under two bucks. Definitely worth that cost, as this is a small bottle (in fact, the smaller 13.5 oz size is a good thing as no wash goes to waste AND the bottle easily fits in the shower). Not exactly "age defying," but it cleans and moisturizes wonderfully.

As a side note I did purchase the original scent as I am VERY sensitive to smell and am prone to migraine. The spray is not perfumey, but is made of citrus essential oils so keep that in mind if that's an issue for you.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?) Smells good, gets my husband clean, not too teenager-smelly or overpowering, and doesn't have those scrubby "micro beads" that are horrible for the environment. Will buy again.
